The Guardian reported that Donald Trump’s personal fortune is falling in step with his party’s defeat in Tuesday’s midterm elections. Tradeable investment assets that added more than $2 billion to his net worth during his first year in office are now losing value, the outlet said.

Trump Media and Technology Group (DJT) shares, which trade on the Nasdaq, were priced at just over $5 on Tuesday morning – the lowest level the stock has ever reached. The price is down sharply from the all‑time high of $101 and fell 11 percent overnight after the election results began to emerge, slipping from $5.90.

Despite the decline, the report noted that Trump remains about $2.7 billion richer than when he won the 2024 election. He has disclosed ownership of 114 million DJT shares, a holding that now reflects the recent market drop.

Why it matters

The shift illustrates how political setbacks can directly impact the financial interests of a sitting president.
